Stars & Stripes Lax Alumni,
Please join me in congratulating Evan Karetsos, Class of 2021 Pace Academy High School, for being the twelfth Stars & Stripes Lacrosse Alumni to officially commit to play collegiate lacrosse. Evan will be playing for the Dickinson College Red Devils in the NCAA Division III Centennial Conference in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Evan was the first officially registered player in the Stars & Stripes lacrosse program. As the coach’s son, Evan played every position on the field to fill in gaps (even goalie), which gave him amazing field presence and knowledge of the game from multiple perspectives. Evan eventually settled in with his long-pole and became a ground-ball machine for the team whether coming off the wing on a face-off or darting out of a pile on the crease. Evan’s precision checks, gritty play, and his ability to hunt the ball carrier down all over the field gave his team the confidence to take more risks on offense. Evan is the “field general” of the team, moving the defense into position, finding match-ups, and always keeping the team on sides. Stars & Stripes Lax is very fortunate to have a player with Evan’s intensity and love for the game. Laura, Niko, Alex and I are tremendously proud of Evan’s work ethic and determination to achieve his goal of playing collegiate lacrosse. “Storm the Hill”, Evan - the world awaits!
- Coach K
In a shortened season (due to COVID-19), the Knights ended up with 5 wins and 0 losses. In his junior year, Evan was a leader on the defensive side of the field, playing both LSM and close defense. In the 4 games that Evan played, he caused 31 turnovers, had 3 assists, and scored 1 goal with his pole.
